I was in an accident with the bike on the way back from picking it up...a sign maybe?

Notice the large dent in the tank. I was broadsided by a '78 GMC Sierra pickup. The bike was saved from total destruction by the three foot railing surrounding the trailer.

Weird air shocks and an awkward Harley rear fender...all must go

Engine still has good compression. No kick start on 1980s...that will change

A vomitous mass of electrical wires

And so begins the breakdown...

The bike finds its new home in the shop

Bike is all jacked up

Beginnings of front end disassembly

Rear wheel and final drive removed

Nasty wiring harness yanked out

Necessary electronic components separated

Carbs removed

Disassembly of the twin overhead cams

Frame nearly ready for modification

First box ready for bead blasting

Piston heads off; Cleaning components and replacing all gaskets (notice vacuum advance on ignition timing plate)

Closer view of rigid rear end

The engine seems to get bigger and bigger...

Fork breakdown and cleaning

Cams removed completely

Complete breakdown will take place on the bench

Nice jugs...needs cleaning

Frame completed and back in shop. I needed this motivation to keep from throwing this bike to the curb
