Slim Shady
This actually was a parts bike for the Kelt build. Now that the Kelt is gone...Looks like I'm gonna need to replace some parts. It's a 1974/73/78/75 Yamaha XS650 crossed with a 1966 Yamaha YM1 and an early model Honda CB something something.
Already half stripped
I'll need another parts bike
Not looking good...
somebody left a plug out over the years...
Switching Brains...
The Difference between the two trees and neck lengths that need to be swapped.
Cleaning the lower Tree to receive the new, longer, neck.
Taking a stock 650 neck and putting it into a DT Lower tree. The DT neck is out and just up to the left. After alignment, I'll weld it up.
Ahhh...clean heads and valves
Willie does good work.
The Aluminum Stack!
Time to start putting it back together as soon as I clean up the lower end.
21" rims...
The cleaned up hubs...
They cleaned up pretty good. Now to get them laced up with the rims and functioning.
The Rear...
Tire mounted and balanced with sprocket added.
Front Hub
Tire mounted and wheel balanced...let's see what it looks like on the forks.
The Roller...
slim shady ... thus far.
Ugly, Ugly, Ugly
This is a nasty basket...
Hack sawin' the frame
Frame stripped and cut, now the swing arm needs to be cut off.
Rusted solid...
It's gonna take some elbow grease to get his apart...
A quick front end mock up
Lined up and tight...time to weld.
In need of a cleaning...
The lower end is in real good condition and will only need a good cleaning after I check the gears.
Clutch seems to be in good shape.
I'm hoping to try a clear portal on this side (cover).
The Ugly Fronts...
I hope these clean up....
Threar hub isn't as bad...
A quick look at fit...
The Front End...
The '66 YM1 hub is opposite most other XS hubs with the brake plate being on the right side.
Trying out the Clubmans
a quick mock up...
What I want it to look like...
Some quick PhotoShop on how I want to drop the seat.
